There is a specific kind of silence that exists in African tech. Not the silence of nothing happening. The silence of things happening that nobody is writing down.
Startups launching with no coverage. Developers shipping real products with no record. Builders solving genuine problems in Harare, Bulawayo, Mutare — invisibly.
The work is real. The visibility layer is broken. This is the problem Connekt Ink exists to fix.
How We Got Here
In May 2026, Kufrashe Technologies (Private) Limited was formally incorporated in Zimbabwe — Entity No. 110221A0252026 — under the Companies and Other Business Entities Act. The company had already been building for years before the paperwork caught up.
The flagship product is Connekt — a unified digital ecosystem built specifically for African networks, African communities, and African builders.
- Connekt Social: Launched publicly on Christmas Day 2025. It is a social platform optimised for low-bandwidth environments, built from scratch, featuring calling, community tools, marketplace functionality, and a social graph that now powers everything else we build.
- Connekt Pay: Africa-native payment infrastructure with a T+7 rolling payout cycle, EcoCash and OneMoney support, and a Partner Program (with Vendly as Partner #001). Its KYC architecture is built on top of our own RACP (Robust Agent Communication Protocol), a zero-trust communication protocol developed in-house for secure data transport across the ecosystem.
- CompRes™: Born out of a real problem. WebRTC calls on low-bandwidth African networks lose quality fast. CompRes is our proprietary compression engine that achieves 95–99% data savings on calls without perceptible quality loss. It serves as the underlying infrastructure beneath Connekt Social's calling system.
- Connekt Studio: Opened the ecosystem to external developers with an SDK, a developer portal at dev.connekt.social, and RACP integration to make third-party integrations secure by default.
- ShonaAI: Runs on WhatsApp and serves the Shona-speaking community — locally and in the diaspora — with culturally grounded AI responses in their native language.
- Gaming Division: We released two games in June 2026: Sons of the Soil (a Zimbabwe liberation war-themed tactical game) and Evolution Cars: Selekta Events, a sim-cade driving game set in Harare. Game development is a core anchor of what Kufrashe Technologies does, not a side project.
- Connekt Ads & Ledger: Connekt Ads launched with an external deployment on Essence of Africa Tourism, while Connekt Ledger is currently in the architecture phase.
All of this was built by a small team, on a Hetzner VPS, in Zimbabwe, while one of us was on industrial attachment during the rollout of our Pioneering 500 referral campaign.
Why Connekt Ink
The suggestion came from Mr Prince — CTO of Codico Software Solutions — during a call about Sons of the Soil. He mentioned an Articles feature for Connekt Social. Something like Medium. Something like Reddit long-form. With email digests. With startup coverage.
He said — and this is the part that stuck:
"I think that's where the money is."
He was not talking about advertising revenue. He was talking about attention. Relevant, ecosystem-native attention. The kind that changes outcomes for founders who otherwise launch into silence.
We took the idea seriously. We talked about it with Virgil — founder of Vendly and CapitalP, our first external developer on Connekt Studio and our first Connekt Pay Partner. We talked about the gap in Zim tech coverage. Not the absence of startups, but the absence of documentation. The absence of a visibility layer that reflects what is actually being built.
We realised the infrastructure to build it was already there:
- Connekt OAuth: You are one consent screen away from publishing. No new account, no new profile, and no building a new audience from zero. Your Connekt identity is your Ink identity.
- Database Extension: The posts table already supports the metadata_json extension pattern we designed for exactly this kind of use case. An article is simply a post with a different content type and a richer display layer.
- The Social Graph: The ecosystem already knows how to distribute content to followers. Comments, likes, shares, and bookmarks were all already built.
What Connekt Ink needed was not new infrastructure. It needed a dedicated experience. A reading mode. An editor. A home that says: this is where things get written down officially. So we built it.
What Ink Is
Connekt Ink is not a blogging platform. It is not a news site. It is not a TechZim competitor — though we understand that comparison will be made. TechZim covers the ecosystem from the outside. Connekt Ink is the ecosystem documenting itself from the inside. That is a category difference, not a feature difference.
Connekt Ink is long-form publishing for the Connekt ecosystem. It is where:
- Startups announce their launches.
- Developers write about what they are building.
- Researchers publish findings.
- Event organisers document what happened.
- Communities report on themselves.
The tagline is not accidental: The written record of African tech.
Ink is where things become official. You do not sign agreements with pixels; you sign them with ink. You do not write constitutions with pixels; you write them with ink. You do not preserve knowledge with pixels; historically, you preserve it with ink. That weight is intentional.
The Long Game
Five years from now, someone will ask: what was being built in Zimbabwe in 2026?
Right now, the honest answer is: good luck finding out. You will search Facebook posts, WhatsApp groups, old PDFs, and dead links. The information is fragmented, ephemeral, and largely lost.
Connekt Ink is the answer to that question — not just for 2026, but for every year that follows. Every startup profile published here, every launch announcement, every technical article, every community report, and every founder interview will be archived. It will be permanently connected to real people and real companies active on the platform.
That is not content. That is institutional memory. And institutional memory is what ecosystems are built on.
The First Article
This one. We are the patient zeros. Kuda, Virgil, Kuntz, Mr Prince — we will be the first writers on this platform. Not because we have nothing better to do, but because the first articles on a publishing platform set the tone for everything that follows.
If you are building something in Zimbabwe or anywhere in Africa — a startup, a product, a community tool, a game, a research project, anything real — Connekt Ink is where you document it.
One consent screen. Your existing Connekt account. Start writing.
The written record of African tech starts here.
